8/1/2014. Before I could remove the body, I had to have a body dolly to attach it to so I could move it around. I used frame to body mounting points with heights from a drawing in a manual to get the dolly’s dimensions in the ballpark. The mounting points were adjustable. Using Super Strut avoided welding (and hard to correct mistakes), and could be reused and later made into something else. Like a sturdy work bench. I’ve seen wood dollies, but I wanted to have as much open framework as possible so I could get underneath to work on the car. Two problems with the design. It had to be checked to make sure it was square before mounting the body. Once the body was bolted on, it didn’t change shape. And I should have used larger wheels.

I love this design. I am about to remove the body on my ’78 C3. I will be building one of these!!!
I’m also going to build one. I plan to pull my ’67 convertible body next month. An ambitious winter project in the cold Vermont north woods. The dolly looks real solid and saves me a trip to the welder – Thanks.
