1965 Corvette C2R. This is a photo essay of a midyear resto-mod project. Eight years and counting. Other than some fiberglass repair on Pete Klain’s Corvette race car back in the ’70s, I’ve never done anything like this before. I do have a ’71 Corvette, so I’m familiar with the chassis and drivetrain. At the beginning I had the vague thought of just fixing what needed to be fixed and be done with it. Problem was, everything needed to be fixed. The car had been run hard and put away wet way too many times. It was christened “Frankenvette” because it had parts from so many different years.
Basically, the car is now finished (as of mid-May, 2018), except for a few nagging details.
